Remote desktop connection to Azure AD joined computer device

Hi Folks,

I have an issue of remotely connecting one of the Azure AD joined computer.

Fix is explained below

1. Open "Remote Settings" from "System".
2. You should be able to view "Remote" tab from "System Properties".
3. Uncheck "Allow connections only from computers running Remote Desktop with Network Level Authentication (recommended)" from Remote Desktop section.
4. Open regedit.exe.
5. Navigate to "Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\WinStations\RDP-Tcp".
6. Update "SecurityLayer" key to "0" (Zero) from default 2 (Two).
7. Reboot your system.
8. While taking remote desktop, user "AzureAD\"your work email id" as your username.
9. You should be able to connect your AzureAD joined system remotely from now.

node server address in use error resolution for Windows and Linux machines

Hi friends,

Today, I have come across a situation, where my node server existed unproperly and address has been blocked. Because of which, I am unable to run the node server on the same port.

System configuration

Running my node server on port 3000.

Resolution

Windows Machine

We will first try to find whether the port has been still in listening mode.
> netstat -ano | find "LISTENING" | find "3000"
When the above command returns result then take the last number (Process ID)
We will kill the process with the following command.
> taskkill /f /pid

Linux Machine

> netstat -nlp | grep :3000
> kill -9

Now, you will be able to run the node server on the same port which has been blocked.

Change IP Address and DNS from static to DHCP and vice versa in Windows Command Line Dynamically using Batch file script

Hi friends,

I was frequently changing my system network from static to dynamic.

I was fed-up with the manual changes by entering the static IP address and changing it to dynamic.

I though of creating a batch file, which requests user to select options and proceed further.

 

I found something on Internet, just modified it for my purpose and thought of sharing with you all.

 

• Check your network name
• cmd> netsh interface show interface
• It will list all the network interfaces connected to your system
• Select the network which you want to change the settings
• Modify the below code with appropriate network name, IP address, subnet, gateway and DNS server

Finding IP address to MAC and vice versa on same network (subnet) or different subnet which is reachable by ping

Hi all,

After long time I got a chance to write the blog.

 

This time it is related to networking.

 

Finding out which all the system up on the network

Syntax

cmd> nmap –sP < regex IP >

Example

cmd> nmap –sP 192.168.1.*

 

Finding MAC address of a device which is connected in same network

Syntax

cmd> ping <broadcast address>

cmd> arp –a [ <IP address> ]

 

Example

cmd> ping 192.168.1.255

cmd> arp –a –> Gives all the IP address and MAC address in the same subnet network

cmd> arp –a 192.168.1.25 –> Give the MAC of the specified IP address

 

arp –a : Lists all the IP addresses which are recently got into network with its MAC addresses

 

Finding MAC address of a device which is connected in same network but different subnet

Syntax

nbtstat –A <IP address>

Example

nbtstat –A 192.168.2.45

Changing MAC address of a system in Linux with root privileges

Hi Friends,

Have you ever tried to change the MAC address? It is so easy to do. Just follow the below steps.

1. Login as root


2. Write the MAC addresses of the system which u r going to change on a file or paper if you want the previous MAC addresses.


3. Open terminal


4. ifconfig eth0 down


5. ifconfig eth0 hw ether XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX


6. ifconfig up


7. ifconfig

Now your system MAC address will be changed to the specified MAC address. If any packet comes into the network to the specified MAC it will get confused where to go. If u specified the MAC address of the other system. i.e. if two system's MAC addresses are same.
