Publish and Consume NPM Packages using GitHub Package Manager

 Hi folks,

We are used to publishing the npm packages on npmjs.com. Today, I will show how we can publish the npm packages to GitHub and the steps to use those packages.

1. Publishing Packages

Prerequisites

We need to have an account with GitHub

JavaScript native/framework based project with package.json

Add the .npmrc file to your project with the following syntax. Change the OWNER value to your GitHub account or organization name.

@OWNER:registry=https://npm.pkg.github.com

Publishing Process to GitHub

Create personal access token using the following steps

• Login to GitHub
• Go to Settings
• Navigate to "Developer Settings" -> "personal access tokens"
• Generate token with write:packages access permissions

• Open terminal in the project folder
• Execute the command to login

npm login --scope=@OWNER --registry=https://npm.pkg.github.com

• When prompted,
• Username: GitHub username
• Password: Personal access token
• Public e-mail: Your email address
• Enter the following command to publish the package

npm publish

2. Consume/Installing the packages

Prerequisites

We need to have an account with GitHub

Installation

Add the .npmrc file to your project with the following syntax. Change the OWNER value to your GitHub author or organization name.

@OWNER:registry=https://npm.pkg.github.com

Enter the full name @OWNER/package-name-version in dependencies in package.json

Install the dependencies

npm install

Note: If the organization is asking for authorization of personal access token, then you need to authorize from the personal access token section against the token for the respective organization.

Consolidate / Merge all your PF accounts

Hi friends,

Today, I have come across one useful website which consolidates all your PF accounts under one roof.

Pre-requisite

1. You should have one active and current PF account
2. You should have UAN created and activated
3. You should have your old PF account numbers

Important Information

If you have changed organization, then wait till the previous employer update your "Date of Exit (DoE)"
After that your current employer details should be available
To verify that, please login to your UAN services account
https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/
Go to "View" -> "Service History"
You should be able to see your present and previous employers
Note: You wait for atleast 3 months, after you exit from your previous organization

Procedure

1. Visit http://oeoea.epfoservices.com/UANDEDUP/index.jsp site
2. Enter your registered mobile number
3. Enter your UAN number
4. Enter your current active PF account
5. Once you login, you should be able to view your all registered and linked PF accounts
6. Consolidate all PF accounts by selecting and further processing

Create custom mozilla firefox profile with browser settings customization in Ubuntu and Windows

Hi all,

Today I have customized my mozilla firefox browser with custom settings by creating my own profile in my user account.

Follow these steps in creating the custom profile for firefox in Ubuntu

1. Open terminal (Keyboard Shortcut Key: Ctrl+Alt+t)
2. Change the directory to mozilla preferences directory for user
• $ cd ~/.mozilla/firefox
3. Create a new directory yourname.default
• ~/.mozilla/firefox$ mkdir psr.default
4. Open the existing profiles.ini file
• ~/.mozilla/firefox$ gedit profiles.ini &
5. Replace the Path variable with the following
• Path=psr.default
6. Save and close the profiles.ini file
7. Change the directory to psr.default
• ~/.mozilla/firefox$ cd psr.default
8. Create a user.js file
   
• ~/.mozilla/firefox/psr.default$ gedit user.js &
9. Edit the all possible settings by following the references, which are listed down
